Voicethread

Here is my Voicethread, feel free to look at this. (for my PLN!)

My movie

Rubric

This is my Rubric that I created about music. It was about percussion music. Im not really sure how Rubric is used but from what I learned from it I enjoyed and found some what useful.

KakoMessenger

I liked this site because it was very interesting for awhile, but I'm not sure how long I would actually like to spend on this site. It seems as though it gets old fast. Being that it is very repetitive , I only liked playing on this site for a few minutes. I think kids would really get a kick out of making songs up and what not, but then again it gets old fast.

Jogtheweb.com

This website would be good to use in the classroom because it give directions and allows people to learn how to use Google Earth. If students didn't know how to use some part of Google Earth, they could just look on this site for help.

One part of this site that I really like is the GoogleNC portion where you can make any map a 3D map. I think that this is very catchy and it is also very attractive.

Using Google Earth in the classroom

Using Google Earth would be very beneficial if it was used properly in the classroom. With this said I also feel like Google Earth would not only grab kids attention, but also it would be very fun for the students to explore. It seems like it would be pretty easy to give the students an assignment and tell them to find a city or an object, then to draw or embed the picture into something. I like Google Earth and I really enjoy exploring this site.

Its fun to look up places that you are familiar with and see what they look like from outer space.
: )

My Jigsaw puzzle

This picture was from when I went hiking Spencers Butte last Fall. It was an amazing trip and I captured this marvelous picture of me when at the top.

Pageflakes

This is my pageflakes page, on it I have customized it to show the Eugene weather and local news. I like this website because it allows me to show and have the things I want on my page. For example, I live in Eugene there for I want to know what the weather is looking like for the following days. Along with this, I like to be updated on the newest local news.

Spelling City

http://www.spellingcity.com/teacher-spelling-resources.html

This website I found the idea to be fun but I would not like to have to pay for it. I think that this site could be used in every classroom with any age group. Spelling is an every day issue with kids and even adults. There fore this site will help further or could help anyone with their spelling issues.

Quizlet

Spanish

This game is a flash card game that has different Spanish vocab words and then what the words translate to in English. I would have really enjoyed this or even doing this for some of my previous homework assignments or for studying. I will probably use this in the future for studying.

Webquests

http://its.guilford.k12.nc.us/webquests/harry/harry.htm#intro

This webquest I found more fun compared to useful. I think that kids in the 4th and 3rd grades would really be interested in this webquest since it's interacting with Harry Potter topics.

http://projects.edtech.sandi.net/chavez/fairy/

This website lets students look into four fairy tales and go in depth in examining the crime scene, identifying the witness and gathering facts. I think that kids would really enjoy this because it's fun and you also get to act like a investigator which I think I would really enjoy let alone I think that young students would also enjoy this site.

http://projects.edtech.sandi.net/balboa/coyotetrick/task.htm

This last website is a lot like the others, but it is about reading Native American trickster tales and pointing out specific things in each story and comparing the different ones.

Web based bookmarking

Doing this allows you the capability to search anywhere. (website based). I find being able to bookmark websites are very helpful, so I do not have to try to memorize what websites I like or need to use. A bookmark system lets me save what I need to know or want to keep on hand.

Videos that are useful

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTwjFHorQhk&feature=PlayList&p=92DA9D89FBAF36AD&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSWidLhnBcg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PdpMe0uTjg

These videos are all very important and give great detail on how you could teach a 4th grade class specific lessons. They all go into detail about what you should and how you should teach your classroom. I find these sites helpful because I want to be a teacher in the 4th grade.

Readfresh

I think that the Readfresh website can be very useful because I like how my whole PLN's blog is now easily available to me. I think that this site could also be useful because for example if you need to remember some ones sites or blog you could just save it as a readfresh post.

SimplyBox

I could not figure out exactly how to get SimplyBox to work. I had issues with this site and getting other sites boxed. From what the other people in my PLN who got this site to work liked SimplyBox, sad day for me I guess....

Below is a livebinder that I have embedded from someones livebinder. It's about Crayfish and gives great detail on the animal. I recommend reading it!

My new custome google search engine

http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=008868832317855252185:z-khzp6snpk

This is my new search engine that I have created. It allows people to get the information they need fast. "Bomb Search" is amazing and I recommend this search engine over any other search engine out there!

My wordle

This is my Wordle, all of these words are words that are actually different search engines. I found three of them were actually very fun to use. Forestle is a very cool way to search the web because every time you search for a site, you save a portion of a forest tree. Quintura is a pretty cool search engine because it allows you to search from words they already have on the left side of the screen. It looks like a bunch of random words while those words can be clicked on and searched. Lastly I also liked Lycos. This search engine was actually a lot like google in a sense because it is very simple and you type a word or subject and the site pulls it up. (Like Google)

The game I made

Who wants to be a millionaire??? I made this game for the 12-15 year old age groups.

Here is my PLN's lesson plan.

Internet Safety in the classroom

I 100% think that every school needs to have some sort of fire wall to protect the students from getting involved in sites that they don't need to be getting into. This is especially crucial for young students. As far as the protection in schools for the internet i think that no matter what age group or school, they all need some sort of fire wall to keep the students from seeing cites that they do not need to see. With this said I also believe that the copy right issues that are being incorporated into the schools rules these days are very important as well. Students need to realize that if they are to copy and paste someone's words from the internet that it is the same as stealing, just in a seemingly smaller form. Although stealing is stealing no matter what is stolen. The penalties for students who do choose to steal some one elses words need to be penalized harshly.

Fun sites that coudl aid in the teaching process

I really enjoyed this website

http://www.funbrain.com/math/index.html

and it allows students to learn math through playing a game of baseball. Depending on how hard the question was or if you got the answer wrong would allow you to run the bases. I know that I would have loved this game when i was in elementary. I was hooked instantly and I know that the kids who like baseball will definitely help them learn about math problems.

This website would also help with differentiation because it allows students who are willing to try out and play this game. It's not a required game, but it is very beneficial if played.

Thinklinkr; Differentiation

I liked using thinklinkr more then I liked using scriblink. My PLN used tihnklinkr for finding the definition of differentiation. In this discussion we discussed what the word meant to each one of us.

Scriblink

I liked Scriblink, but I think that it is pretty hard to work with. I like the idea of being able to invite whoever you want to join your Scriblink session. It seems pretty fun but like I said earlier, it is a real pain to use. As far as this program being used in the classroom; I feel like it could be fun to use with your students. As long as they could be controlled while using the program.

Creating Smartboard lessons

I over all liked the idea of creating my own lessons on Smartboard, but I didn't like actually creating them from scratch. Although I didn't like doing this assignment I do think that the lesson making could be very useful. I can see how this type of work can be very fun and very exploitative. Especially for a teacher that is looking for a way to create some new assignments.

Here are three slides off of the three lessons I created.

This picture was off my mathematics lesson. In this lesson I had math exercises and fun, active ways to learn math.

This picture from my "What is A Noun" lesson. In this lesson I incorporated games, quiz's, and also fun ways for kids to learn about nouns.

This picture was from my "Shapes" lesson where I used shapes as my main focus. It was for the 1-2 years old age group. I feel that this lesson was probably the most fun and was very easy.
