Facebook and social networking

After reading the articles about Facebook and how some teachers are trying to make the connections with their students over the social networking system makes me feel weird. If teachers were to have their students or some students as friends on Facebook I think there needs to be specific limitations to what the teachers look at on their students Facebook pages. It almost seems as though some teachers would judge or possibly even grade some students differently depending on what they see on their students pages. If teachers are going to use Facebook as a way to connect with their students over academic issues then why even having a Facebook page seems pointless to me. I use my Facebook account as a way to kind of escape the world and just chat with my friends. If Facebook was used for academic purposes and it wasn't required, then I would probably not have an account.
